vox merus @ Newry Chamber Music 22.5.13
Our 2013 programme, 5: Music for Brass Quintet, was enjoyed by a small but appreciative audience at the Sean Hollywood Arts Centre in Newry last night. Thanks to Joanne & David Quigley for the invitation to play and for making us feel most welcome! Hopefully brass ensembles will now be a regular feature of the Newry Chamber Music concert series.

Music @ Brighton Road 14.4.13
vox merus' programme, 5: Music for Brass Quintet, was extremely well received by the M@BR audience today...of special mention was the presence of Irish / Australian composer Houston Dunleavy, for the premiere of his brass quintet version of Music for Foul Play....thanks also to concert organiser Bill Dowdall and the M@BR team. The venue is very favourable for brass and made the concert a pleasure for performers and audience alike!
The programme was an homage to ground-breaking brass quintets and their repertoire, including:
Philip Jones Brass Quintet
Giles Farnaby - Fancies, Toyes & Dreams
Andre Previn - Four Outings for Brass
Canadian Brass
Samuel Scheidt - Galliard Battaglia
JS Bach - Little Fugue in G Minor
Empire Brass
Victor Ewald - Brass Quintet No 3, Movement 1
The Wallace Collection
Jim Parker - excerpts from The Golden Section
William Walton - excerpts from Facade Suite
New York Philharmonic Brass Quintet
That's A Plenty - arranged Steven Cooper

The Composer / Performer Dialogue @ DIT Conservatory of Music 4pm, 30.11.12
This is the second instalment of this lecture presentation, providing a view into the intriguing world of a brass chamber music ensemble collaborating with composers to present a concert of new music, based on the vox merus / Irish Composers' Collective programme Impure Voices.
A case study of composer David Bremner's new work for brass quintet, Driving through the waste territories: (Winter), will be included, along with thoughts from the composer himself on his participation in the Impure Voices project.
Presented as part of DIT's Conservatory of Music lecture series.
